Marc Newson Biomega MN02 Bonanza RARE Original 1999

RARE Original 1999 Designer Marc Newson Material Superplastic Aluminium The MN02’s frame represents a revolutionary approach to bicycle design utilizing “superplastic aluminium” to create the bikes sleek curves whilst ensuring that the frame is light, strong and responsive. Biomega design is innovation in aesthetics and technology, combined with simplicity in function. Marc Newson was the first bike designer to work for Biomega. His futuristic, technically rigorous and serial approach to bike design has influenced the bike design language of Biomega. Jens Martin Skibsted and his bike design group KiBiSi have been equally influential as a result of the sheer number of product designs and his unique creative direction. Beatrice Santiccioli, then Apple’s colour expert, selected the original colours for Biomega’s bicycle collection. Biomega’s initial bike design quest was to create a sense of optimism within sustainable transport. These are no longer in production and there were not many made; less than 500 ever produced. The MN02 BONANZA is a highly functional rare collectors item. The SF MOMA has one in their collection. 1999 MN02 | BONANZA Handlebar Kalloy 560mmx22mm Stem Biomega Design Satin Finish Headset Biomega design Satin Finish Shifter Shimano 7sp Brake lever Shimano Deore Grip: Velo Eva Black plug-in ends Saddle Biomega VL1999 Seat post Kalloy 31,8mmx400mm Silver BB SET TH BB7420AL 68×127.4 Pedal MKS Foldable Seat clamp Biomega Design Front fork Pace RC30 Crank Arms StronglightMygal Chain KMC Brake front V Shimano BR-Deore Brake Rear Shimano Roller Brake RIM Mavic x221 Front hub Shimano Deore BR-M510 Tire Nokia Rear hub Shimano 7 Speed Includes removable Biomega Stem Shelf with biomega branded cord and removable thumb bell as pictured Biomega frames are designed with a specific purpose: All for urban use, some to be aggressive and versatile, to be comfortable and easygoing. “Steel Feel” Professional bicyclists are plagued by joint injuries caused by stiff aluminium frames – causing most to practice on a steel bike and compete on aluminium ones. Biomega combine the benefits of the stiff aluminium with the flexible feel of steel. The iStem Another Biomega innovation is the integration of the head cover in the head stem, preventing oxidizing. The stem itself is machined out of a solid block of aluminium, making it extremely tough – in addition to a marvelous piece of Marc Newson design. Night Glow Biomega’s special paint coating contains tiny crystals that store light and release it for up to four hours at the hours of darkness. This greatly increases a bicycle’s visibility and traffic safety. It also looks pretty cool. Note that the MN02 bikes are ideally suited for people within the heights of approx. 1.60 – 1.90 metres (5.2 – 6.3 ft).
